Home and almost in the barn!

Travel brings adventure, right? We've had adventure yet again on this trip. I had to post to let you all know why our fifth wheel is parked here. Two reasons:
1. The truck puked on the way home. We were about 10 miles from Delaware when it started making more noise than usual. Then when we were just south of Delaware-it wouldn't rev. but no warning lights came on. Put on the flashers cause we are only moving at about 15-20 mph. but still moving. So decision had to be made as to which way to take it to home-the long way (which gives more space for emergency stops) or the shorter way (hilly and narrow road). He decided to try the shorter way. This decision proved to be the right one. We made it to the house going 15 mph. with flashers on. But no power. And now it won't even start. He thinks it might be the fuel filter as we had filled up just south of Columbus. Maybe bad fuel? Cross your fingers.

2. Yard was wet, very wet and soggy. Now, granted I did try to tell driver that I thought maybe this would be risky and we should just be happy to get home. Nope he wanted to get it up close to the garage door. So he makes the turn into the yard and right away it's apparent that this was the wrong decision. Normally, he pulls the truck into the yard in order to get the trailer lined up with the garage doors and somewhat level. But this time......yard too wet, truck too broken. If the truck had been operating properly he would have made it, possibly! But the whole yard would have looked like a mud course for tractors. So, we drove the Mule down to the trailer and hauled two heaping loads of clothes, food and Texas purchases out of the camper and into the house. Thought after unloading he would try one more time to move the truck. Now it won't even start!

OK, that's two strikes. Here's a third. We decide to go into town to get something to eat, back the car out of the garage and the brakes are lumpy. I'm saying lumpy cause that's what it felt like inside the car. The brakes were just repaired before we left on this trip, but now, another trip to Marion to get this resolved, cause now we feasibly have NO vehicle. Brakes continued to surge and bump each time they were applied.

Driver decides to try the truck one more time. It starts this time so he gets the trailer backed up a bit and out from under the tree branches (not so good on rubber roofs).....and unhooks. It's apparent he's not going to get that big heavy thing out of the mud for awhile. Get the truck into the garage and puts on the new fuel filter. Didn't fix it. Still puked.

As I type this update this morning he is still "with car" and when he gets home then will take the truck to the shop. And we are prepared for a big bill with the truck, these diesel engines just don't come cheap to purchase or to repair.

Rocky was ready to be out of the truck and in his yard again. He was getting pretty tired of riding in the truck. We are ALL glad to be home.

Thought this was a fitting or maybe NOT so fitting end to this trip. You remember the T-bone crash, the broken antenna at the car wash and now.....who knows? But we put 7000 miles on the truck and that is with the three weeks it was immobile and in the body shop.

We are so very fortunate that this didn't happen in the hills of KY and we know this. We are home and know where and how to get this taken care of.
